Lens, Bernard - portrait of a lady
This miniature portrait has been attributed to Bernard Lens (1682-1740), but it may be by another artist from that era. It is in an early fruitwood frame. The sitter is unknown. 97
This is a stretch, and would imply the miniature artist was pretty bad at his job, but I do see a slight resemblance to Lady Innes in this picture. http://members.shaw.ca/jobev/innes.html
The term "historical detective" may sound a little strange, but is the easiest way to express the intent of this research.
Seeking information to expand historical knowledge and finding, surprisingly often, "conventional wisdom" needs revision
